Missionaries are volunteers who move to a foreign country sent into an area to do evangelism or ministries of service, such as education, literacy, social justice, healthcare and economic development. They often relocate alone, with a friend or partner or with their entire family to a location of their own choosing, temporarily or permanently, depending on their own financial support and often on a very low budget. A common example would be Jehovah’s Witnesses.
NGOs (Non-Governmental Organizations) are legally constituted corporations created by natural or judicial person that operate independently of any form of government. Their activities might include human rights, environmental, development work or disaster relief. A common example would be the Doctors Without Borders or the Red Cross.
